Talofa lava. I am currently serving on the board as a Parent Trustee and have been for the last 2 years. Over the years, I have learnt a lot about Governance in the Education Sector that has changed my perspective as a parent, but most importantly understanding my role and responsibilities as a Trustee. My background is in Management and currently employed by TNT Express as the Customer Care Manager for our Northern Region in the Freight & Logistics Industry for the past 5 years, bringing my experience in Management to the table. The learning doesn't stop for me but continues on to ensure my part is inclusive and invested, ensuring that every single tamariki is given equal opportunity to learn in a safe & learning environment with their best interests at heart. Kiora and God bless.

Malo e lelei and Pacific warm greeting to you all, my name is Sio Kihe La'a Talakai-Alatini, I am Tongan and have been raised in Mangere, attended Nga Iwi and Mangere College. I'm currently serving on the Nga Iwi board and have enjoyed being part of an awesome team. Being part of the school board meant that we were able to work as a collective team to make sure that all students are getting a high quality education that will prepare them to survive and thrive in the world by the time they leave school. As a mother of five girls, my passion for them and all children here in Aotearoa is to raise student achievement through the school curriculum and be able to show our local communities, parents, whanau and to the government that students of Nga Iwi School are being well prepared for life beyond school. I currently hold a first class Masters with honours in International Business and have Programme Management experience. I've had two of my eldest daughter's attend Nga Iwi and currently have one attending with two more daughter's to enrol in the coming years. My vision as a parent trustee is to see all student's in our local area attend our local school's so that we are able to collectively strengthen and support our tamariki in ensuring they receive the best opportunities through quality education. I have just completed my first term on the Nga Iwi School Board and just under a year as Board Chair. My time on the NIS Board has been exciting, emotional, challenging and fulfilling. I have learnt and grown so much within the last three years. I choose to stand again because I believe NIS deserve to have the best governance team of people who will ALWAYS have the students best interest at heart. My experience as a teacher and mum allows me to wear multiple lenses as a BOT member who understands very well what happens inside the classroom (teacher) and outside the classroom (mum). I hope to remain on our NIS journey to grow learning empowered and empathic students.
